Councillors
Chairman Diane Bratt – 01295 810212
I was born in Banbury and attended Banbury School, but I then lived and worked in East London and Surrey before returning to Oxfordshire. I moved to Adderbury in 1982.
I am married to a local farmer and we have one son.
I have been a Parish Councillor in Adderbury for about twenty years and I have been Chairman for the past seven years. The role of Chairman is a busy one, but I am also a member of the Parish Council's Planning Committee as well as being Chairman of Adderbury Lakes.
I have been involved in many aspects of the Parish Council's work over this number of years but I was especially pleased to be able to secure the Adderbury Lakes as a nature reserve and village amenity for Adderbury.
I serve as a Parish Councillor because I believe government at local level is extremely important. I am always happy to answer questions from residents.
Ivor Burgess – 01295 810499
On moving to Adderbury in 1981, my wife and three children integrated into the local community but it took a heart attack and medical retirement for this to happen to me.
As a young man I considered myself a Communist being a paid up member of the ETU. Over years and with education, I moved across the spectrum of political persuasion and became a conservative. I represented Adderbury at Cherwell District Council, handing over to John Harper, and taking up the post of Treasurer of the local Conservative Association on the death of Roy Gow.
A Parish Councillor with a gap year over the past time, serving the community of Adderbury, my home for 25 years (half my married life) in giving back in some small way the reward I have for living here.
Joyce Cox – 01295 810048
My husband and I moved to Twyford in 1961, and our two sons began their education at Christopher Rawlins Primary School. Our grandchildren attended the Toddlers Group and continue to make use of the excellent play facilities in the Lucy Plackett playing field.
As Treasurer of the Lucy Plackett Activity Centre Management Committee I am actively involved in the day-to-day running of that Centre. I am also a member of the Adderbury.Org Website Group.
I owe allegiance to no political party and should like to devote my time and energy in giving back something to the community in which I have lived for so long.
Ann Lyons – 01295 810197
I confess that I am a 'foreigner' having been born just down the road in Banbury, but I have lived in the village for over 20 years now, having moved here when our youngest son was just one year old.
As well as being a Parish Councillor I am Secretary of FOCAL and Chairman of 1460 (Banbury) Squadron Air Training Corps.
I work for Charter Community Housing.
My Parish Council duties include:
Keeping an eye on the play equipment in the Lucy Plackett playing field
Taking the cemetery bins down for collection, in rotation with other Parish Councillors
Commenting on plans submitted to the Planning Dept at Cherwell District Council
Finally doing the best I can for the village, which is what all Parish Councillors try to do.
Rhoda Woodward – 01295 810964
I have lived most of my life in Adderbury and was co-opted onto Adderbury Parish Council in February 1982.
For the past 27 years have been Secretary/Treasurer of Adderbury Over Sixties Club. I am also Booking Secretary of The Institute and was a founder member of the Committee formed to save the Library.
I come from an old Adderbury Family named Hawkins which goes back to 1700.
