Other responsibilities

General Expenditure
In any situation not covered by specific powers given to local councils. Subject to certain formalities, the Council may spend up to a prescribed limit for any purpose which in its opinion is in the interests of or will directly benefit the area or the inhabitants. Examples include:

Best Kept Village Competition
Entered annually (decided not to enter 2004 and 2005) to involve interest, to improve and enhance environment. (Winners of large village category in 1999 and runner up in 2006, winner of Winners' Class in 2000).

Grants
Grants are awarded annually to village organisations

Litter
Employment of litter collectors to cover certain areas.

Consultation

Adderbury Parish Council is consulted as follows:

Planning
The Parish Council is consulted on and responds in respect of all planning applications affecting its area. This includes all applications for woks to trees within the Conservation Area of the village. This work is delegated to a committee of six Members of Council.
The Council is also consulted on changes to the Cherwell Local Plan and Oxfordshire Structure Plan.
